This project was the first 3D modeling assignment my Lessons in Making class completed. As an introduction to understanding space and simple shapes, we did studies in geometry. I worked with cardboard rectangles 4", 8", and 12" tall. I split the base into nine sections, so that there were three lines of stair-stepped rectangles. To add texture, I turned the middle line of rectangles 90 degrees and alternated the directions of the "staircases." While the rectangles were originally supposed to stand up straight, I like the movement of what ended up as falling cardboard. And because my model was less rigid, I could bend the base to get some interesting pictures. Both paintings are based on the model.
