THE BASILISK OF FALLING WATER
Meghan Jones and Chantionna Willis | ARCH 1020 |
In our pod, we focused on the hydrological systems associated with the existing drain that trails the bottom of the staircase at our site located in front of W.G.’s addition to Campbell Hall. Our pod inherently becomes a part of this hydrological system, not only is it a tool for drainage it also acts as a reflective illumination of our main focus, water. The aluminum inside of the soda cans mimics the reflective quality of water, while there natural curvilinear form speaks to its uncontrollable nature. Furthermore its shingle like connection directs water from the top of our pod to the drain, which runs parallel to its end. Its function thus becomes not only a place for habitation but also a tool for directing water.
